Enforce your right as a parent to protect your family

In today’s world, when it comes to protecting the well-being of our children, many parents just like you are faced with an onslaught of media competing for the attention of their young minds. This is not just sexual content, violence and language, we’re talking about. Your kids are being fed innuendos, subliminal messages, indoctrination and social conditioning like never before in history. Filtering services like VidAngel allow you to pre-edit (skip over parts you choose) movies and TV shows giving you peace of mind about what your children are exposed to.

Right now there is another battle waging behind the scenes, and its outcome will directly affect your rights as a parent. Four Hollywood studios (Disney—along with Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, and Lucasfilm) have entered in legal battles with VidAngel, in a case that is sure to set a precedent for the future of the filtering industry. This is not the first time Hollywood has strongly opposed filtering services. After all, they were against the Family Movie Act (FMA), a law designed to empower parents and enable filtering services. The #SaveFiltering petition exists to enforce your right to choose how your family consumes content in the privacy of your own home before Hollywood takes it away.

Filtering allows our family to watch movies that we would not watch without this option.

VidAngel has made it possible for me and my family to watch movies! Since we discovered VidAngel we have started to enjoy films that Hollywood is producing. Every family has different beliefs and different values within their homes. VidAngel has made a means in which all families can enjoy the beautiful art of movie-making. My grandfather and father both worked for a major motion picture company building sets for many films, so I understand on a personal level that moviemaking is truly an art. With that being said, I do not believe my filtering a film takes away from that art, especially because that filtering allows me to be able to enjoy that movie-art with my husband and my children. Ultimately, as a parent, I decide what my children will view. If filtering goes away we will go back to not watching any films and what a pity that will be as I truly believe that moviemaking is an art. But it is not an art that is “one-size-fits-all”, for example the movie Zootopia recently came out. What a fantastic movie with a great message! But there are a few words and a few moments in the film that I believe are not appropriate for my children, as it could cause nightmares, etc… VidAngel provides a way for me to simply take out those words/scenes that I know will be inappropriate or scare my children and then I know that my children are safe to watch that wonderful movie. Let’s not let Disney or other companies shut down filters, parents should always be in charge of keeping their own children safe.

It’s my movie (property) when I buy it I should be able to do what I want with it.

We are big Disney fans, but this sours our mood toward them. This is simply a case of the big guy using the law to bludgeon the little guy. I hope Disney can get a clue and support family-friendly content as they purport to do.

I should choose what content comes into my home. Please let me enjoy your movies at my own discretion.
