Enforce your right as a parent to protect your family

In today’s world, when it comes to protecting the well-being of our children, many parents just like you are faced with an onslaught of media competing for the attention of their young minds. This is not just sexual content, violence and language, we’re talking about. Your kids are being fed innuendos, subliminal messages, indoctrination and social conditioning like never before in history. Filtering services like VidAngel allow you to pre-edit (skip over parts you choose) movies and TV shows giving you peace of mind about what your children are exposed to.

Right now there is another battle waging behind the scenes, and its outcome will directly affect your rights as a parent. Four Hollywood studios (Disney—along with Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, and Lucasfilm) have entered in legal battles with VidAngel, in a case that is sure to set a precedent for the future of the filtering industry. This is not the first time Hollywood has strongly opposed filtering services. After all, they were against the Family Movie Act (FMA), a law designed to empower parents and enable filtering services. The #SaveFiltering petition exists to enforce your right to choose how your family consumes content in the privacy of your own home before Hollywood takes it away.

Hollywood has lost touch with reality and needs its own reality check. They’ve disgraced and neglected the families that support their projects, that believe in family values, who they’ve ridiculed simply because they the families would like to remove the language and raunchy scenes out of movies; which mostly feel out of place and unnecessary to begin with. They’re not acting practical nor are they respecting and supporting families with family values.

Dear Disney and other Hollywood: Censorship is an interesting thing. With vidangel, people can be selectively censored or not censored at all. I always wish I could watch Game of Thrones without having to see someone’s head smashed and splattered on the ground or without seeing various naked women just standing around for the heck of it or hearing Tyrion Lannister explain how he fed his sister something akin to fecal matter. I enjoy the story of Game of Thrones; it’s like Lord of the Rings, and it even has a character named Sam on it. But I can’t watch it because seeing or hearing anything nude or violent makes me vomit out of my mouth and onto my computer, and then my computer and mind is soiled and dirty. Please don’t make me throw up on my computer. Please don’t subject me to movies and T.V. shows’ worst moments that I don’t want to see. Please let me omit the bad parts of your shows. I know it wasn’t what the artist intended, but who the fudge cares? I’m an artist and writer, and chances are that one day I will create a painting that includes pieces that some people don’t want to see. Should I force them to look at it? Should I shove it down their throats? Even if the painting has a wonderful message, I don’t want to force someone to look upon the nakedness or violence or crudity of its occupants. You understand that Americans enjoy freedom of the press; which means that we can publish whatever we want. Copyright laws are not being challenged because I own the movie for a short time, then I sell it back. It’s just the same as buying a movie and then selling it to a pawn shop. Please stop waving your iron fist of Communism over me. Let me enjoy movies on my own terms. Let me be my own person with my own standards, because your movies are too disgusting to view without filters, and I need those filters so that I don’t have to suffer the agony of watching Jason Segel fully frontal on “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”, when his towel falls off. I am a young, impressionable girl after all, and you are trying to corrupt me so that I will watch more of you. Is it really so bad that someone’s trying to encourage me not to become a porn addict, a violence addict, an f-bomb addict? I’m trying to as well because I respect myself. Respect me and drop this silly legal battle. If you can respect people of the same gender and their lifestyle, then you can respect my lifestyle of never wanting to see the filth in your shows, only the good in your shows. Thank you. -A concerned young girl

We do not hurt a company or a work of art by privately filtering what our children see.
