Enforce your right as a parent to protect your family

In today’s world, when it comes to protecting the well-being of our children, many parents just like you are faced with an onslaught of media competing for the attention of their young minds. This is not just sexual content, violence and language, we’re talking about. Your kids are being fed innuendos, subliminal messages, indoctrination and social conditioning like never before in history. Filtering services like VidAngel allow you to pre-edit (skip over parts you choose) movies and TV shows giving you peace of mind about what your children are exposed to.

Right now there is another battle waging behind the scenes, and its outcome will directly affect your rights as a parent. Four Hollywood studios (Disney—along with Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, and Lucasfilm) have entered in legal battles with VidAngel, in a case that is sure to set a precedent for the future of the filtering industry. This is not the first time Hollywood has strongly opposed filtering services. After all, they were against the Family Movie Act (FMA), a law designed to empower parents and enable filtering services. The #SaveFiltering petition exists to enforce your right to choose how your family consumes content in the privacy of your own home before Hollywood takes it away.

My family and I LOVE VidAngel!!! There are hundreds of movies on there (Shawshank Redemption, Good Will Hunting, Chef, About Time, The Godfather, and countless more) that I would have never watched otherwise! Movies I have been dying to see but would not because there was content in them that I did not want to see. It can only benefit Hollywood and anyone who makes movies! Seems like a no-brainer to me. VidAngel is an amazing company and they have lots of families like us behind them and their mission and business!

I support the peoples right to use technology filtering that allows the parents or end viewer to protect themselves and or their kids by removing curse words, sex scenes, and violent content from the movies and TV shows that they watch at home. I also support the peoples right to have all of the original content if they so choose. My kids don’t need to hear f*** bombs or other curse words at home, they get enough of that at school. The content should be enjoyable, and we all have different versions of what that means. Hollywood and Disney should understand diversity more fully. We haven’t bought a Disney movie in over a decade. We don’t miss it. I might rethink that if Disney changed their stance.

This is outrageous! My husband and I have LOVED finding VidAngel and have been so relieved to find a family friendly way to enjoy great movies while following the guidelines we want to uphold in our own home!

A fellow parent told me she was going to show Transformers: Age of Extinction at her son’s 7th birthday party. The movie is rated PG-13 and has graphic violence and a sub-plot of statutory rape. I didn’t want to be the parent that told my son, “Sure you can go, but when they watch the movie you have to go and do something else.” So I searched everywhere to find a solution and none were available (either VidAngel didn’t exist or I couldn’t find it in my feverish search.). I took the disc that had been purchased and pulled the movie off and set to editing out the bits I didn’t want my kid to see. I ended up with a movie that had a bunch cut out, slapped it on a DVD and sent it with my child for the birthday party. It was a huge success and what a relief not to have your kid be “that kid”. This took me nearly 4 days of work between the splicing and the burning to get a usable product.

I eventually found VidAngel and am such a fan. I have been able to share with my children the movies I grew up with. I could not have shared with them these movies with a clear conscience without you, VidAngel. Thanks for allowing me to share my childhood with my children.
