Enforce your right as a parent to protect your family

In today’s world, when it comes to protecting the well-being of our children, many parents just like you are faced with an onslaught of media competing for the attention of their young minds. This is not just sexual content, violence and language, we’re talking about. Your kids are being fed innuendos, subliminal messages, indoctrination and social conditioning like never before in history. Filtering services like VidAngel allow you to pre-edit (skip over parts you choose) movies and TV shows giving you peace of mind about what your children are exposed to.

Right now there is another battle waging behind the scenes, and its outcome will directly affect your rights as a parent. Four Hollywood studios (Disney—along with Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, and Lucasfilm) have entered in legal battles with VidAngel, in a case that is sure to set a precedent for the future of the filtering industry. This is not the first time Hollywood has strongly opposed filtering services. After all, they were against the Family Movie Act (FMA), a law designed to empower parents and enable filtering services. The #SaveFiltering petition exists to enforce your right to choose how your family consumes content in the privacy of your own home before Hollywood takes it away.

My kids don’t need the garbage found in PG-13 movies. Now we can finally watch movies together that we would couldn’t share before.

Movie filtering is becoming more and more important as movies become increasingly lewd and crude. I enjoy reading and watching wholesome videos online, but I also like to be able to watch movies that are clean with a small amount of editing. It helps me stay connected with others that I interact with when I can talk about common movies that I wouldn’t watch in their original state.

There are a lot of movies that I wouldn’t watch if VidAngeldidn’t exist. The other day we watched My Big Fat Wedding 2 and we actually had in increase the filtering part of the way through the movie because it was so full of sexual jokes and innuendos. We would not have watched more than a few minutes of it if it weren’t for VidAngel.

I think that it is understandable that a studio wouldn’t want their content to be changed, but their content isn’t being changed. Do they want to disable fast forwarding and muting on their movies too? VidAngel is basically an intelligent fast-forward and mute feature. Once I buy a book, I can skip or white out pages/text. If I buy a song I can clip it and only listen to the middle part if I want. When I buy a painting, I can cut a portion out and frame it. Why can’t I skip the parts of movies that I don’t like? Unlike the options that I just listed, there is no permanent change made to the media when I use VidAngel. Are movie studios trying to make money, or force people to chose between being entertained and being inundated with crude movies?

There are so many good movies with so much crap in them. Usually I don’t see these movies cause the having all the crappy input in my head isn’t worth it. Because of VidAngel I can watch a lot more movies without offensive scenes! They’ve made my movie watching experiences possible and positive.

Please continue to provide filtering services so that I can enjoy movies without the smut that would otherwise pollute their message. My family loves it!

Because of the unique way VidAngel has set up their filtering service, studios have no more room to object than they would if a family chose to skip certain scenes of a movie while watching a DVD. The right of the consumer to watch films however they want should be protected.

I am so thankful for video filtering! We don’t watch nasty movies in our home, but it is great to filter out some of the borderline stuff in the children’s movies we watch. I want to make sure filtering capabilities are here to stay.

Recently my daughter saw a trailer for lights out, while watching a sporting event. She had nightmares for several nights. Although this is not the kind of movie I would ever, at her current age, allow her to watch there are scenes and things that are in current movies that are equivalent to this level of fear and angst produced by consuming this type of “entertainment”.
VidAngel assists me as a parent in protecting my children and my household from unnecessary trauma while consuming media and still allows us to enjoy a “movie night” as a family.

We love movies and this type of filtering opens us to consume more movies that never before.
