Enforce your right as a parent to protect your family

In today’s world, when it comes to protecting the well-being of our children, many parents just like you are faced with an onslaught of media competing for the attention of their young minds. This is not just sexual content, violence and language, we’re talking about. Your kids are being fed innuendos, subliminal messages, indoctrination and social conditioning like never before in history. Filtering services like VidAngel allow you to pre-edit (skip over parts you choose) movies and TV shows giving you peace of mind about what your children are exposed to.

Right now there is another battle waging behind the scenes, and its outcome will directly affect your rights as a parent. Four Hollywood studios (Disney—along with Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, and Lucasfilm) have entered in legal battles with VidAngel, in a case that is sure to set a precedent for the future of the filtering industry. This is not the first time Hollywood has strongly opposed filtering services. After all, they were against the Family Movie Act (FMA), a law designed to empower parents and enable filtering services. The #SaveFiltering petition exists to enforce your right to choose how your family consumes content in the privacy of your own home before Hollywood takes it away.

I would think movie studios would want to tap into a whole market of individuals who request filtering their movies & provide this entertainment to them? I don’t see how providing this filtered content would do anything but increase their market share & revenue.

As a 23 year old, married, 2nd Grade teacher, movie filtering is absolutely important to my family and I.

My husband and I enjoy sitting down after a long day of work to enjoy a wholesome movie; however, everything in the movie industry lately seems to have inappropriate content that we refuse to watch based on the standards we have set for ourselves. We believe that watching and hearing inappropriate material is harmful to our minds, body, and spirit. This standard is practiced within our entire religious community, too. That is why it is extremely important for my Husband and I to filter out the inappropriate content in movies.

If movie filtering weren’t possible through VidAngel, we would never even consider watching the movie. No matter what, we never watch these types of movies via big screen, rental, streaming, nor purchase them from any store. We would absolutely never watch or spend our money on any of these movies with inappropriate content if VidAngel movie filtering did not exist. That even includes all movie ratings of G, PG, PG-13, R, and not-rated; we refuse to watch this content no matter who rates it appropriate.

The studios do not make a fair argument to refuse my right to choose what I do and don’t watch. As citizens of this great, United Nation, we have a right to choose and practice our religious beliefs, which means I have a right to a system which helps me practice those beliefs (VidAngel). This is the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights because, as the founders of this nation knew, it is one of the most important freedoms in the United States of America. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” If the judge were to refuse mine and my family’s right to use VidAngel, the instrument to help me practice free exercise of my religious beliefs, he would be unfairly breaking our right as stated in the first Amendment of the Bill of Rights of the United States of America.
