Enforce your right as a parent to protect your family

In today’s world, when it comes to protecting the well-being of our children, many parents just like you are faced with an onslaught of media competing for the attention of their young minds. This is not just sexual content, violence and language, we’re talking about. Your kids are being fed innuendos, subliminal messages, indoctrination and social conditioning like never before in history. Filtering services like VidAngel allow you to pre-edit (skip over parts you choose) movies and TV shows giving you peace of mind about what your children are exposed to.

Right now there is another battle waging behind the scenes, and its outcome will directly affect your rights as a parent. Four Hollywood studios (Disney—along with Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, and Lucasfilm) have entered in legal battles with VidAngel, in a case that is sure to set a precedent for the future of the filtering industry. This is not the first time Hollywood has strongly opposed filtering services. After all, they were against the Family Movie Act (FMA), a law designed to empower parents and enable filtering services. The #SaveFiltering petition exists to enforce your right to choose how your family consumes content in the privacy of your own home before Hollywood takes it away.

I have the right to mute or skip content for any movie I watch in my home, so I do not believe the service that VidAngel provides is any different than that.

Keep our rights to control what we take in as much as possible.

Certain movies we just won’t watch because they throw in just a few things that we feel are unnecessary. It may not seem like a big deal, but when I’m at home watching something with my wife and my kids are in earshot, I don’t need some random language that isn’t at all meaningful to the movie. Because I can’t trust the ratings system, I rely on sites like and services like VidAngel which allow me to enjoy entertainment on my terms.

Before VidAngel, I used Clearplay and before that we just wouldn’t watch certain movies. That’s not just me, it’s my whole extended family too. VidAngel makes it possible for us to enjoy a wider range of films we otherwise wouldn’t see. Honestly, I can’t believe that movie studios would do anything to stand in the way of filtering companies. They’re making money whether people see the whole movie or not. Even if someone sees a filtered version, they’re still going to talk about it with friends and promote it.

If people trying to filter films is causing that big of a problem for the studios, then maybe they should reconsider the kind of entertainment they are offering. If the movie studios would rather have people not watch their movies rather than watch filtered versions, they may just get their wish.

Sure, some places make a great burger, but some people like to have it their own way. Maybe they add a ton of ketchup or some extra pickles. Maybe they don’t want onions. The fact is the technology works and people like it, they filter movies for TV and commercial flights so what’s the big deal with people filtering on their own?

They won’t stop people from filtering movies, the technology is here so they might as well embrace it. There are plenty who will watch movies as is but let everyone else have the freedom to filter as they wish.

The free market American system should prevail by allowing Vidangel to provide us with watchable entertainment; entertainment we otherwise would not watch in the theatre.

We love VidAngel! We watch so many more movies than we used to just because we now feel comfortable having them in our house without the bad language and nudity scenes. And we now feel like our kids can watch some of the movies we love because we know they won’t be subjected to the inappropriate content we don’t want our kids to watch or listen to. VidAngel has totally changed the movie experience for our family! Thank you!

I love VidAngel. I was so excited to see this business. There are so many movies I wanted to see but couldn’t without the filters. I don’t understand why there is a problem since any time these movies are put on the major networks some of the cussing is taken out along with sexual scenes. And, I’m still watching your movie and I think the movie is so much better with the filters. Thank you so much!
