Enforce your right as a parent to protect your family

In today’s world, when it comes to protecting the well-being of our children, many parents just like you are faced with an onslaught of media competing for the attention of their young minds. This is not just sexual content, violence and language, we’re talking about. Your kids are being fed innuendos, subliminal messages, indoctrination and social conditioning like never before in history. Filtering services like VidAngel allow you to pre-edit (skip over parts you choose) movies and TV shows giving you peace of mind about what your children are exposed to.

Right now there is another battle waging behind the scenes, and its outcome will directly affect your rights as a parent. Four Hollywood studios (Disney—along with Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, and Lucasfilm) have entered in legal battles with VidAngel, in a case that is sure to set a precedent for the future of the filtering industry. This is not the first time Hollywood has strongly opposed filtering services. After all, they were against the Family Movie Act (FMA), a law designed to empower parents and enable filtering services. The #SaveFiltering petition exists to enforce your right to choose how your family consumes content in the privacy of your own home before Hollywood takes it away.

    1. How important is movie filtering for you and your family, and why?

For me movie Filtering is very important. For my home specifically I want it to have a certain safety, and peace. A place you do not have to deal with the immorality and violence of this world.

    2. Are there movies you wouldn’t watch if VidAngel filtering didn’t exist?

Absolutely. I have restrictions on all of my other video watching accounts in my home. And movie filtering provides my family to watch movies together. There are so many movies that I watch now. That I would never have thought of even giving a second glance to.
    3. Do the studios make a fair argument when they say that if you object to the content of a movie, you simply shouldn’t watch it? Please explain.

Absolutely not. A lot of movies are very great. With wonderful story lines and awesome Life lessons. But then they throw in there just a few things that make it inappropriate for me and my children.

I have always thought it ridiculous that a movie creator will put out the original and then an uncut. But not think to put out one that is edited. It is like we are catering to the perverts of the world. Instead of families.

Seriously, taking the time to do an uncut version of the movie and then thinking that people wouldn’t want an edited one as well is silly.

VidAngel’s filtering service has allowed our families to watch movies again! Even Disney movies contained material we didn’t want our children to see at such a young age (example: words like “stupid” or women wearing cleavage boasting shirts), so we simply did without. Now we are able to have fun movie nights and not worry about what our ears may hear or our eyes may see!

Movie filtering is very important to me. I believe that there are a number of incredible films out there that are important for me and my family to see, but contain a scene or two that I would just like to skip. I should have the choice of what I want to see or not see, not the studios.

If I weren’t able to filter them there are just some movies I wouldn’t see. If I am paying for the movie, I should be able to watch it in a way that I want. People already filter with their remotes. People will fastforward or mute the tv. Why shouldn’t a service be able to do the same.

Studios say that if I don’t want to see the content I shouldn’t watch the movie. Can you imagine going to Mcdonalds and getting your burger and you find it has pickels. You don’t like them, but the rest of the burger is fine. You try and pull them out and the Cashier tells you that you can’t do that. If you don’t like the pickels don’t buy the burger. This would never fly in any other industry. Why should film studios be able to dictate how I use the product I bought. Other filtering services already exist. Clearplay players for example.

I should be able to watch my movie how I want it. I wouldn’t mind paying more to do it. I like the service. By trying to subdue filtering, the film studios are themselves guilty of filtering and censoring legitimate business ideas. This is monopoly at its best.
