Enforce your right as a parent to protect your family

In today’s world, when it comes to protecting the well-being of our children, many parents just like you are faced with an onslaught of media competing for the attention of their young minds. This is not just sexual content, violence and language, we’re talking about. Your kids are being fed innuendos, subliminal messages, indoctrination and social conditioning like never before in history. Filtering services like VidAngel allow you to pre-edit (skip over parts you choose) movies and TV shows giving you peace of mind about what your children are exposed to.

Right now there is another battle waging behind the scenes, and its outcome will directly affect your rights as a parent. Four Hollywood studios (Disney—along with Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, and Lucasfilm) have entered in legal battles with VidAngel, in a case that is sure to set a precedent for the future of the filtering industry. This is not the first time Hollywood has strongly opposed filtering services. After all, they were against the Family Movie Act (FMA), a law designed to empower parents and enable filtering services. The #SaveFiltering petition exists to enforce your right to choose how your family consumes content in the privacy of your own home before Hollywood takes it away.

    To Whom It May Concern:

I do not use filters. Not for language. Not for violence. Not for sexuality. I don’t see the need for it. However, I believe that VidAngel and services like it are wonderful. You see, our nation is base on the idea of freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom of religion, and much more. Filter of movies is a perfect example of these freedoms in practice. VidAngel does not violate copyright in how it does business. The studios get paid. VidAngel is simply utilizing technology to help individuals who wish to filter their content to do so.

I, as a person who enjoys watching shows like Game of Thrones, feel that any individual should have the right to filter what they watch. I choose not to, but so long as the individual is not violating the copyright of the owner, I do not see how this is a problem. These companies are essentially upset that individuals are doing the equivalent of blacking out words in a book that they purchased. They are upset that someone is drawing a mustache on the characters on the cover of the proverbial DVD or Blu-ray. As far as I am concerned, and as far as the law should be concerned, this is irrelevant. The only concerns that should be before the court should be whether VidAngel or the user are violating copyright by viewing the movies in question without paying, and/or that the movies are being distributed for profit without these companies getting paid for their property.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I hope the court rules in favor of freedom. I don’t use the service, but I do see the value in it.

Vidangel has completely changed the way I watch movies. I can enjoy so many more types of movies as a result of filtering.

I love VidAngel and being able to watch movies I love without the few words or couple minutes that harm the movie experiences! Let us filter our movies!

We love vid angel. There are so many good movies that producers, writers who ever is in charge, take and insert filth. Why? What a valuable service you provide. We can feel refreshed and entertained after watching a vid angel movie. Not like we have to go and wash our ears and eyes or with soap! We hope you are able to stay in business a long time.

I love VidAngel! My little sister is a big movie fan, but she can’t watch half of the movies she wants because of inappropriate content. VidAngel has allowed her to watch great movies without the worry of covering her eyes or ears.

Ever since VidAngel was born (back when it had an annual subscription), we have been able to partake in over 90+ films in the comfort of our own home without having to worry about offensive sex scenes, excessive gore and violence, drugs, profanity, or vulgarity. Anytime my wife and I are thinking about going to a movie, or watching something, the first thing we look at is VidAngel! There is just so much terrible content in modern media these days and my wife and I don’t ever like to partake in it if there are options to clean it up, so VidAngel has been a valuable and very enjoyable addition to our home entertainment selection. Fight the good fight! We want VidAngel to be here to stay!
