Enforce your right as a parent to protect your family

In today’s world, when it comes to protecting the well-being of our children, many parents just like you are faced with an onslaught of media competing for the attention of their young minds. This is not just sexual content, violence and language, we’re talking about. Your kids are being fed innuendos, subliminal messages, indoctrination and social conditioning like never before in history. Filtering services like VidAngel allow you to pre-edit (skip over parts you choose) movies and TV shows giving you peace of mind about what your children are exposed to.

Right now there is another battle waging behind the scenes, and its outcome will directly affect your rights as a parent. Four Hollywood studios (Disney—along with Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, and Lucasfilm) have entered in legal battles with VidAngel, in a case that is sure to set a precedent for the future of the filtering industry. This is not the first time Hollywood has strongly opposed filtering services. After all, they were against the Family Movie Act (FMA), a law designed to empower parents and enable filtering services. The #SaveFiltering petition exists to enforce your right to choose how your family consumes content in the privacy of your own home before Hollywood takes it away.

It’s not about the directors, or what content they have chosen to have in a movie/TV show, this is just the platform. It is about money, and how they can milk every last drop out of the customers.

It is sad, that I am a minority in the fact that I prefer to monitor what enters my home. I wish I had the right to do just that. According to the law, I guess I have that right, however any attempt to make it a reality, the movie industry has squashed. What is the point of making a law giving someone the right to something that is impossible to have? I’ve tried every option I can think of. I even bought a very expensive editing software and would edit my own personal collection of movies, however that was NOT good, as I would have to see/hear everything I was editing out thousands of times. VidAngel is by far the best option available to the public for controlling what they personally allow in their own home. I personally only use VidAngel for movies/tv shows that I would not watch otherwise, usually rated R movies or MA rated tv shows, or movies that have excessive violence or nudity.

What possible difference can it make to you movie makers – (especially Disney!!! REALLY.!!!) If we choose to see movies without all the smut and vulgarity? Don’t take away our freedom to choose what we watch and what we hear!!

Many thanks to VidAngel for providing this filtering service. It provides an enjoyable option to watch many good movies in our home we wouldn’t otherwise watch due to the inclusion of blasphemy, profanity, sexual content and some violence, which I find to be offensive and insensitive to important values I want to engender in my home.

Our family loves VidAngel! A few bad words ruin a movie and we never watched them with our kids. Now we can!!

There have been many movies I have wanted to watch and watch with my family. I have never been able to due to the violence, sexual content, and foul language. Since a small percentage of companies have come up with the ability to filter certain content my whole family have been able to watch these movies. Vid-Angel so far has been the best because I am able to be more specific on what I want filtered in each movie I purchase and stream on line.

Since movie filtering has been available we have watched many movies we would have never watched before including: Spaceballs, Pricesess Diaries, the Iron Man series and many many more. I have even purchased movies again because ClearPlay allows me to filter dvd’s. Movie filter has not by any means crippled the movie industry but broaden it. As long as the movie industry continues to feed sexual content, strong curse words, gore and a host of other vulgar things into their movies then filtering is a must and should even be allowed the option in theaters. I will continue to watch movies I never intended to watch as long as filtering is available but if it stop; well me along with many, many others will hang up on these movies. I would be bold to predict that toy sales would increase as well because “Iron Man” or “Batman” wont be a byword in homes due to the high amounts of questionable material in these new movies.

Keep allowing companies to further develop filtering or be prepared to continue to loose out on a large host of families who would otherwise watch the movies if filtering was available.

I started out searching for a way to filter out profanity a few years ago. There were so many movies that I would love to see but I’m very sensitive to profanity and just couldn’t bring myself to sit through a movie was so much language. Some may say, that’s just the way people talk today. What I say is, that’s not the way I talk and therefore I don’t want to see that or hear it in my entertainment. Now that I can choose to filter out this profanity there are so many more movies that I can watch. These are movies that I otherwise would have just skipped. I would not have watched them if I could not have filtered them. If the filtering goes away then I suppose I will once again be skipping these movies. I refuse to give my money or my support to such language. The movie studios and whatever other entities are trying to prevent this from being available to the public is really doing it self a disservice. They will be losing my dollars for sure.
