Enforce your right as a parent to protect your family

In today’s world, when it comes to protecting the well-being of our children, many parents just like you are faced with an onslaught of media competing for the attention of their young minds. This is not just sexual content, violence and language, we’re talking about. Your kids are being fed innuendos, subliminal messages, indoctrination and social conditioning like never before in history. Filtering services like VidAngel allow you to pre-edit (skip over parts you choose) movies and TV shows giving you peace of mind about what your children are exposed to.

Right now there is another battle waging behind the scenes, and its outcome will directly affect your rights as a parent. Four Hollywood studios (Disney—along with Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, and Lucasfilm) have entered in legal battles with VidAngel, in a case that is sure to set a precedent for the future of the filtering industry. This is not the first time Hollywood has strongly opposed filtering services. After all, they were against the Family Movie Act (FMA), a law designed to empower parents and enable filtering services. The #SaveFiltering petition exists to enforce your right to choose how your family consumes content in the privacy of your own home before Hollywood takes it away.

My family and I love movies and there were a lot of movies released the past couple of years that we did not rent or purchase but would have if some of the offending content was removed.

I think we should have a right to watch the same movies as others but with the content we feel is acceptable.

What could possibly be wrong with watching a movie with your family and simply removing the language and other offensive things? We will not watch them if we have to watch them the way they currently are. If there was less language and nudity, there would be a whole lot more movies watched. I think it is wonderful that VidAngel has saw this need and actually made it available to families. Why would the movie companies have a problem with this? The movies are already made and out for rental. This company makes it possible for others to watch them the way they want when they normally wouldn’t bother renting them. It’s not like we aren’t paying for them through Netflix, Amazon, etc. What is wrong with being able to watch things without all the trash? Leave this service alone and allow all the movies to be filtered if that is what people are willing to pay for. It’s not like they are making them free and taking the movies and changing the content. It’s all still there, people are just choosing to remove what they are not willing to bring into their homes. I am thankful that someone has taken on this challenge to bring this service to households! Leave it alone and instead, start coming down on the movie makers to remove it in the first place. It IS NOT necessary to make a great movie!

Thinking back on favorite movies and those oft-quoted movies I hear from people at large—have you ever noticed that most favorite movie quotes don’t contain profanity? It’s the lines that are genuinely funny that get quoted, not the profane lines. I support content filtering; without it, I will just vote with my wallet and avoid the material entirely.

I might see more if their movies if I could see and edited version. Right now, we just don’t see them and avoid them on other sites. No R or PG13 or Pg 14 in our home and we don’t watch many PG movies.

Who exactly loses when an individual filters a movie being shown in their own home on their own TV after the the movie has been bought, rented, paid for, etc. Please support this petition!

it’s very important for the welfare of our family as well as our communities to be able to have the right to filter offensive material from our viewing…
