In the movie Braveheart, William Wallace, played by Mel Gibson, is standing in front of an army facing incredible odds and gives this rousing speech: "Sons of Scotland! I am William Wallace. And I see a whole army of my countrymen here in defiance of tyranny. You have come to fight as free men and free men you are. What will you do with that freedom? Will you fight? (The outnumbered army's response: "NO!...we will run and we will live.) Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live, at least for a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to do that, for just one chance...just one chance!...to come back here and tell our enemies, they can take our lives, but they can never take our FREEEEDOM!"
In the same pre-battle scene here is a dialogue with two of his closest comrades: Stephen: "Fine speech. Now what do we do?" William Wallace: "Just be yourselves." Hamish: "Where are you going?" William Wallace: "I'm going to pick a fight." Hamish: "Well, we didn't get dressed up for nothing."
VidAngel has found itself in a fight. When it comes to fighting, it's not enough to just to show up...coming in 2nd place in a fight is what the great Ricky Bobby's dad calls "first loser." If you're going to fight, fight to win.
Several large studios are suing VidAngel, so what is VidAngel's response: "Bring it! We didn't get dressed up for nothing." VidAngel has demonstrated to me that they are in this fight to win it with the hiring of David Quinto. Quinto represented the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 27 years.
Check out this article written by The Hollywood Reporter that explains the significance of Quinto's hiring.
